CHALLENGE
When International (Navistar) needed to move hundreds of critical automotive parts overseas, they turned to 3Li and ICAT Logistics Detroit, experts in global supply chain solutions and international freight forwarding. The shipment was large, time-sensitive, and complex – 600+ weighing over 400,000 pounds. It was scheduled to be packed at a secure indoor facility in Mexico.
But just 72 hours before the shipment, plans changed. Packing was now required to happen outdoors in a factory parking lot, creating unexpected hurdles:
- All packing materials now had to be delivered early
- Customs security clearances had to be confirmed for workers
- Exposure to weather and limited space increased risk
- Additional insurance was required
