Recently, a new client approached us with a complex shipping request that involved delivering half a million dollars’ worth of oversized automotive tooling molds from China to Mexico within a tight 14-day deadline. The cargo in question weighed 56,000 lbs. 

The client faced various obstacles due to the size and weight of the cargo that most airlines would not accept. Despite all these challenges, ICAT Logistics Detroit was able to deliver the cargo safely and on time, while saving the client almost $20,000 in the process.

Challenge:

Undeterred, we conducted thorough research and found an airline that was willing to transport the cargo. We flew the cargo into Dallas, TX, for tighter control.

Once the cargo landed, we coordinated a complete cross-border delivery into Mexico, organizing two flat beds in bond, making sure the cargo was secure and delivered on time. However, that was not without its challenges. 

One of the hurdles we encountered was when our driver needed to retrieve the documents at the broker’s facility, which was about to close for the day. Despite this setback, we established a relationship with the broker’s facility and ensured everything was completed safely and securely, causing no delay in transit.

Solution:

To solve this unique logistics challenge, ICAT Logistics Detroit approached the project with out-of-the-box thinking and extensive planning.
