People sometimes ask us: How do you get great customers?

Our answer is always the same: Start with great employees, who serve your customers by knowing their business, offering helpful advice, providing great service and living by a shared sense of business.

“We’ve been in business for more than 20 years and we have extremely loyal customers and employees. The two go hand-in-hand,” says Dan Cser, ICAT Logistics Detroit owner. “There are companies in our industry that are plagued by employee turnover, and their customers suffer as a result.”

When your job is to deliver freight to the right people at the right time, Cser says it is critical to have a cohesive team that is familiar with clients’ needs, knows how to facilitate a shipment no matter where in the world it is going, and has a network of strong relationships with partner suppliers.

“If your own employees are dissatisfied and unhappy, they won’t perform well for your clients,” says Chris Cser, Director of International at ICAT Logistics Detroit. In fact, a recent study of careers in the logistics industry showed that 58 percent of workers who are dissatisfied with their job and employer plan to leave the company in the coming year.

“I can name at least 10 client companies that have been with us from the start,” Cser said, “and I think that speaks volumes for the quality of our employees. Some have been with us for at least a decade and that is far from the norm in our business, but it is one of the characteristics of ICAT Logistics Detroit that makes us most proud.”

“We have prospered and continued to grow for a number of reasons,” Dan Cser explained. “Our people work tirelessly to meet our clients’ expectations, we’ve adapted well to changes in technology that drive our industry and we build on the knowledge our clients and employees bring to every new shipment we make. In other words, we listen carefully to what our customers and employees tell us.”

ICAT Logistics Detroit focuses on hiring the right people, providing guidance and training, setting reasonable expectations and fairly rewarding good work, Cser said.

“It’s a simple formula that works,” Cser said. “What can be better for a business than to have long-term, satisfied customers and employees?

“It’s an unbeatable combination,” he said.
