
When it's a Matter of Life-and-Death How ICAT Logistics DTW helped a medical device maker save a life A six-month old baby awaiting a heart transplant was wheeled into the operating room for a life-saving procedure at a Wisconsin hospital when doctors made a stunning discovery: They did not have the necessary components for a ventricular assist device that would keep the baby alive until a donor heart could be found. The call went out from the Massachusetts-based device maker to ICAT Logistics DTW, which literally flew into action. ICAT collected components in Ann Arbor, chartered an aircraft to fly to Milwaukee and coordinated the final delivery to the hospital, providing email updates every step of the way to all concerned parties.
